every jedi must construct his own lightsabre and thus, i went to mustafa centre some days ago to search for the components... the complex itself is a veritable emporium of goods from many different worlds and i had no trouble discovering some possible candidates for the hilt:
retractable fishing rod - for species with small hands (like yoda)
handpump - for riders whose bikes are not of the speeder variety
exercise bar - for users of the physical force
flashlight - for jedi on a budget, like yours truly

so i bought this foot-long shiny metal flashlight i knew was meant for greater things and fulfilled the prophecy i made last year... this is the result, after adding the other parts.... it costs less than five bucks, probably making it the cheapest lightsabre in the galaxy... click on the image to see it in "action" |

i bought a new phone and almost immediately, sensed a disturbance in the force... well, i realised it's actually one of those truly gratifying purchases we occasionally score among the many spoils of retail therapy... this revision's added video capture (surprise!) and i got some episode iii freebies to go with it too, all for a reasonable price...
too bad, k750i! your master i shall not be... to commemorate this epoch (of yet another mobile contract), i have christened my new constant companion, the vader

the sanctity of yonder blogs must be affecting me... i felt compelled to link this... take a look, it's goofy

memories of vietnam are fading... the photos are online but they serve as reminders rather than actual depictions... there is no way of fully capturing what was in the mind's eye but fusing the camera into the retina would certainly help...
the streets of ho chi minh city were as clean as anyone could hope for in a third-world country, despite the seeming lack of trash cans... i wonder if singapore would fare as well if there weren't bins at every corner...
beer is cheap, though i am not exactly pleased with the pervasion of tiger... in fact, i had expected to savour some american draft but the best i got was foster's...

attended the "world premiere" of singapore gaga last night, after a hasty retreat from oatie's shisha party... it opened with a busker's rendition of wasted days and wasted nights, a curious choice until the true significance of the lyrics was realised at the end of the video...
i'm not sure what the central theme is... could be age and the performing arts in all their forms, or it could simply be the idiosyncrasies of this island city state, a "small red dot" as one minister was heard commenting on tv recently... to me, it portrays the passage of time and the way things change, and that some indignantly do not...
if for nothing else, i remembered i had a musical instrument when i was little... and it was a toy harmonica

life imitates art imitates life... that is, if technology is life and harry potter is art and bill gates is voldemort...

i fucking hate those lower lifeforms, especially one who opened his mouth in hokkien after snatching my cab... and how dared he touch me! was my middle finger not a suitable rebuke for his worthless existence? if this is my ideal world, he would have been smitten by hellfire the moment he beheld my wrathful visage...

received two birthday greetings in the snailmail today... one's from an insurance company which contained a pastry shop voucher... nice touch but why would i buy my own birthday cake?
the other package came from a more unlikely entity - brand's! that's right, the makers of essence of chicken somehow obtained my personal details and decided to wish me well by offering a discount on their products, which strangely would not include essence of chicken, the only brand's thing i consume...

toy cars, something everyone had played with before attaining bipedhood so it is quite surprising to find the japs putting such a spin on regression... but look, how cute!
and how insidiously brilliant... already, i can see the possibilities: phones ringing and zooming down the corridors looking for their forgetful owners, and bluetooth remote controllers for hentais seeking that perfect megapixel upskirt shot...
mine should make a good tank...
